“I’m the librarian at Poinciana Elementary School in Key West. I noticed some of the students in my class weren’t being very kind to one another. So, to help the students better get along, we sat in a circle and I asked each student to say something kind to the student sitting to their left. One by one, compliments were said and smiles were made. When we finished, to my surprise, the students wanted to do the exercise again, but going the other way. Not only did the exercise create a better sense of comradery, but also helped the new English speaking children open up.”
